The National Day of Namibia is on the 21st March (Independence Day, from South African mandate 1990). Firstly Namibia was colonized by Germany in the late 19th century. When this ended it became part of South Africa in 1915. This ended in 1990.

Likewise there had been a number of heroes of Namibia’s independence. These included people such ase Sam Nujoma, who was the leader of the South West African People’s Organization (SWAPO). This was the the main political party in Namibia at the time. Other notable figures include Andimba Toivo ya Toivo, Herman Toivo ja Toivo, and Hifikepunye Pohamba, among others.
