The National Day of Myanmar, also known as Independence Day, is celebrated on the 4th January. However it was on the 1st December (only for 2010). This to commemorate the beginning of student led protests against British colonial government in 1920. See below on the history of what was Burma and today is called Myanmar.
National Day of Mozambique
The National Day of Mozambique is on the 25 June (Independence from Portugal 1975). It is also known as Dia da Independência in Portuguese. The country was colonized by the Portuguese in the late 15th century.
National Day of Morocco
The National Day of Morocco is on the 2nd March (Independence from France 1956). The 2nd March is not celebrated as the National Day of Morocco, but on the 30th July. The 30th July which is known as Throne Day, as it celebrates the ascension of King Mohammed VI to the throne in 1999.
National Day of Montenegro
The National Day of Montenegro is on the 13th July (recognised as independent at the Congress of Berlin 1878), 21 May (independence on the referendum in 2006). Likewise as stated it is celebrated annually on the 13th July and is also known as Statehood Day or Montenegro Day.
National Day of Mongolia
The National Day of Mongolia is on the 11 July (Naadam Holiday, declaration of independence from China 1921; however, Naadam is also celebrated in China by both Han Chinese and Mongols without political attachments). The Naadam Festival which is a traditional holiday celebrated every year between 11th July to 15th July. It is the biggest and most important festival in Mongolia.
National Day of Monaco
The National Day of Monaco is on the 19 November (the levée of Prince Albert II 2005). It is also known as the “Fête du Prince” or the “Fête Nationale Monégasque” in French. This national day is celebrated to mark the accession of Prince Albert II to the throne in 2005, following the death of his father Prince Rainier III.
National Day of Moldova
The National Day of Moldova is annually on the 27th August (Independence Day, declaration of independence from the Soviet Union 1991). Likewise this is also known as the Independence Day. This also marks the day when the country declared its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.
National Day of Mexico
The National Day of Mexico is on the 16 September (Grito de Dolores, declaration of independence from Spain 1810). This also known as Mexican Independence Day. This day marks the anniversary of the beginning of the Mexican War of Independence, which was initiated by Father Miguel Hidalgo on September 16th, 1810.
National Day of Mauritius
The National Day of Mauritius is on the 12 March (National Day, independence from the United Kingdom 1968, republic 1992). It is a public holiday in Mauritius and commemorates the day when the country gained independence from British colonial rule in 1968.
National Day of Mauritania
The National Day of Mauritania is on the 28 November (Independence Day, from France 1960). See also Bastille Day on here. This marks the Mauritania’s independence from France in 1960. See the history of their independence day below.
National Day of Malta
The National Day of Malta is on the 21 September (Independence Day, independence from the United Kingdom 1964). Also the 31st March (Freedom Day, withdrawal of British troops from Malta 1979). Likewise the 13th December (Republic Day, republican constitution of 1974). Finally 7th June (Sette Giugno, bread riot of 1919)Also the 8th September (Victory Day).
National Day of Mali
The National Day of Mali is on the 22nd September (Independence from the Mali Federation 1960). This celebrates the anniversary of Mali’s independence from France in 1960. This follows a very long struggle against French colonial rule.
