South America is a continent consisting of 12 countries, each with its own unique culture and history. Finally here are the national days celebrated in each country of South America:
Argentina– May 25th: Revolution Day, commemorating the start of the Argentine War of Independence.
Bolivia– August 6th: Independence Day, celebrating Bolivia’s independence from Spain in 1825.
Brazil– September 7th: Independence Day, marking Brazil’s declaration of independence from Portugal in 1822.
Chile– September 18th: National Day, celebrating Chile’s independence from Spain in 1810.
Colombia– July 20th: Independence Day, commemorating the start of the Colombian War of Independence in 1810.
Ecuador– August 10th: Independence Day, marking Ecuador’s declaration of independence from Spain in 1809.
Guyana – February 23rd: Republic Day, celebrating the country’s transition from British colony to republic in 1970.
Paraguay – May 15th: Independence Day, marking Paraguay’s declaration of independence from Spain in 1811.
Peru – July 28th: Independence Day, commemorating Peru’s declaration of independence from Spain in 1821.
Suriname– November 25th: Independence Day, marking Suriname’s independence from the Netherlands in 1975.
Uruguay– August 25th: Independence Day, celebrating Uruguay’s declaration of independence from Brazil in 1825.
Venezuela– July 5th: Independence Day, celebrating Venezuela’s declaration of independence from Spain in 1811.
Firstly these countries are not all free. Secondly you will not that Guyana is still French. Finally these national days are celebrated with parades and fireworks.
The National Day of Honduras is on the 15 September (Independence from Kingdom of Spain 1821). You will also note the history behind their national day or independence day. The National Day of Guatemala is on the 15 September (Independence from Spain 1821). The National Day of Guatemala is celebrated on the 15th September. This day now marks the country’s independence from the Spanish Empire in 1821. The process started in 1810 with the “Cry of Dolores in Mexico” which sparked a movement throughout Central America .
The National Day of El Salvador is on the 15 September (Independence from Spain 1821). Many countries in South America gained their independence from Spain and are linked by this. El Salvador much like others in the region declared on the 15th September 1821 their independence from Spain. This along with several other Central American countries.
The National Day of Ecuador is on the 10 August (Proclamation of independence from Spain 1809). The “La Década de la Independencia” (The Decade of Independence) and commemorates Ecuador’s independence from Spain, which occurred on August 10th, 1809. So the 27th September is their national day. The National Day of Costa Rica is on the 15 September (Independence from Spain 1821). It is also known as Independence Day or Día de la Independencia in Spanish. The National Day of Brazil which is also called the Independence Day of Brazil. This is celebrated yearly on the 7th September. This is much like others to celebrate the declaration of independence of Brazil from Portugal in 1822. The leaders of this was Dom Pedro who was the son of the Portuguese King who had been ruling Brazil as a colony.
The National Day of Bolivia is on the 6 August also known as the Proclamation of Republic (Independent from Spain) in 1825. Bolivia, which was once a part of the South American Spanish Empire. Finally gained its independence after a long and difficult struggle against Spanish rule with other South American countries.
The National Day of Argentina is 25 May (First Patriotic Government, the Spanish viceroy is removed and replaced by the Primera Junta during the May Revolution) and 9 July (Declaration of Independence, from Spain in 1816).
